This is why I Run…

Stop and watch the short video…

That is why I run. I run to show support. I run to give back. I run to learn. I run to test myself.

That’s why many of us run. It’s the opportunity to do something for someone who can’t. It’s to learn about people and their struggles. It’s to learn about our own self.

It’s to help give back by simply participating. It’s to show support for a person that has a far greater battle than to just simply run for an extended period of time. It’s to mentally test yourself stride after stride, mile after mile.

Yea, when we are running, or taking part in anything that becomes strenuous, the thoughts of quitting and giving up constantly ring in our head. At some point, somewhere along the journey, we all begin to have this thought.

Whether is the 1st mile, the last mile, or even that extra mile we may go, there eventually comes a stopping point.  I reached this point so many times during the half marathon, I can’t even count, but I was able to keep rolling on throughout the run because I kept only positive thoughts in my head. Sounds crazy, I know, but it’s the truth.  The pain I experienced was little to what these children with cancer experience on a daily basis.

After completing the Jazz Half, I was able to walk away with some new lessons:

Setting Goals and Working to achieve them is awesome. By setting the goals to run the entire 13.1 Miles and finish under 2 hours, I was able to push myself much more than if I had no goals.

There were countless number of times where I had to force myself to keep running because walking would have most definitely been easier. I was able to achieve both of my goals because it was set in my mind. I knew it was going to suck, but I also knew it could be done.

Move with a Purpose. Moving with a purpose is to move with no doubt. The negative thoughts will pop into our head, but once we replace them with something positive, we will be able to Keep Rolling forward. Move with the purpose to always make progress.

Never been so happy to see a finish line until I saw this one.

Remember the journey will be tough at times, but hold on to the intent of why you are doing what you are doing.

Post-Race. I'm soaking wet and can't feel my legs, but I made it.

Showing support for something or someone means more than we could possibly know.

When we support something as a team, it has the ability to inspire and motivate everyone involved.

Going the extra mile is worth it. Push yourself that little extra, then go a little more. Get to your limit, then go a little more. Keep Going. It can be done. You can do it. The challenge is real, but it is achievable.

Set Goals. Move with a Purpose. Show Support. Go the Extra Mile.

That’s Why I Run… Why do you run?

Thank you for reading. Have a Great Week.
